FDI in reatil continued to disrupt the functioning of Parliament with both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adjourned after a united opposition refused to allow any proceedings for the sixth day.
The opposition members were up on their feet as soon as the House assembled for the day.
The Parliament was first adjourned till noon, following the ruckus. But with the opposition in no mood to relent on its demands, the Houses were adjourned for the day.
Earlier, an all-party meet to end the FDI logjam in Parliament on Tuesday morning ended without any breakthrough.
The meeting, chaired by Pranab Mukherjee, failed to break the deadlock, with both sides sticking to their stands.
The opposition made it clear that it will accept nothing less than a complete rollback of the decision.
Speaking to reporters, BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra said Pranab Mukherjee had sought time to convey the feelings of the opposition members on the issue to the PM and get a governemnt response.
Mishra said the opposition parties wanted the government to come back with a response by 2pm.
But Pranab Mukherjee sought more time, thereby ending all hopes of normal functioning of the Parliament.
